IP surveillance cameras

Sometimes you need to use a camera that can change what it is looking at to safeguard an entire area.

When considering IP surveillance cameras, its worth bearing in mind that a remote pan and tilt camera may be more expensive than a fixed camera, but you can certainly cover a much larger area using one and so save the cost of multiple fixed cameras. However, can a pan and tilt camera offer the same range of features and facilities and overall quality that a fixed camera can? What sort of quality do you need and what sort of additional security features are a good idea?
