If you've ever wondered what is the state of the instance as known to the runtime (health service) monitoring it, or if you believe that some state changes are unaccounted for, or if you see discrepencies in the Health Explorer, this is a tool that can help.

In general, there isn't that much good guidance on how to troubleshoot state change problems, but since OpsMgr 2007 SP1 release, there was a way to at least display states of the monitors targeting the instance as recorded by runtime during state calculation.

This led Marius Sutara, to create a tool to return those states from the runtime. It also provides a visual comparison against the “real” Health Explorer when the states are returned from the Ops DB, and is integrated with the OpsMgr console as a console task.
 
This task targets the instance of the “HealthService” managed entity type. The tool provides a Health Explorer-like view of the monitors for each active instance monitored by the specific runtime.
